My 3 plus years with Anthony have been very fulfilling.  He is a great kid and pleasure to be around.  I've watched him grow from a shy 11 year old to a now more confident 14 year old. (And now about an inch taller than me).

We have shared many great times together from baseball games, museums, the zoo, Dave and Busters', miniature golf, crabbing, The Renaissance Fair, Seaside Heights, jet skiing and lots of movies!

He just got his 1 st job at age 14 and I am so proud of him.

As you are aware, he had been on the BBBS waiting list for about 3 years.  He was waiting for a father figure.  I know he had been asked before to be matched up with a woman, but I guess he wasn't ready to say yes until he was asked again, and was paired up with me.  I'll never forget during our first meeting when he was asked, “what do you hope your ‘Big Sister' would be like?” And he replied, I hope she's nice.

I feel so good that I know I am a positive influence on this one child.  I do truly feel I have made a difference in his life.  And he gives me more than I give him in many ways.  He once framed a picture of us and the outside of the frame says, “Forever Friends.”  That photo is so special to me.  And I really feel that we will always be in touch and stay friends.  I am so, so glad I got involved with BBBS.  And you can really make a difference in a child's life and it can be such a rewarding experience.
