I just received an invitation in the mail for the March 14 th Mentor Meeting.  I have been meaning for some time now to express how truly impressed I am by the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization.  These meetings are one example of many that demonstrate how exceptional the program and its employees are.

I became a Big Sister in May of last year and can honestly say that it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.  While having the opportunity to make a difference in a child's life is something that I treasure, working with the organization itself has made a tremendous impact as well.  Everyone I have had the pleasure of working with seems truly dedicated to both the mentors and mentees and although thankfully I have never had any problems, I know that someone would be there should the need arise.

I can't say enough about the activities that have been offered through the program as well.  From the wonderful Pool and Holiday Parties to the Yankee and Circus tickets, I am constantly impressed by the opportunities offered to the children that they may not otherwise have had.  My “little” had never been to a Yankee game and I was thrilled to have been able to share the experience of his first game with him.  To see his eyes light up when we entered the stadium is a vision I will never forget.

Being a “Big Sister” has been a wonderful experience on all levels and no matter how long I continue to work with the program, I will always remain a devoted advocate and supporter.
